Welcome to Neil’s Doughnut Shop!

Neil’s Doughnut Shop is a friendly and professional neighborhood gym that offers private and small-group functional training classes. The Shop is a fitness-sanctuary, different from the normal gym or group exercise experience in that we don’t have front desk people, wait times, or excessively loud instructors on microphones; we do have a great space for functional training, and a seasoned coach with in-depth knowledge on how to design programs and work with individuals at virtually all levels of fitness. We love: good music, good coffee, and good people—oh, and an occasional doughnut. That said, we welcome all who wish to honestly become healthier and stronger.

-Philosophy-

At the Doughnut Shop, we don’t have any dogma, we don’t have any gimmicks or “magic exercises,” we work smart, we work hard (enough). “Don’t be crazy, don’t be lazy” is our mantra. Your workouts should feel challenging for you, but make you feel good after they’re done. You’re here to get stronger, not to get beaten up. Ultimately, If you work, it works—it’s not so much WHAT you do, but HOW you do it that matters. That said, there is no Right or Wrong way to train, but rather an optimal or sub-optimal way; but that looks & feels different for each of us. The benefits, or even the joy of exercise, comes when we feel our individual “optimal; this comes from aiming towards feeling good and feeling strong(er). This feeling is possible for everyone willing to perform work in the mind and body equally. So play it cool, be yourself, and meet yourself where you are. Progression happens when enough intention, time, and intensity are experienced…we will respect this fact and enjoy the process.
